Movie About the Sega vs. Nintendo War The term console wars currently evokes images of the #Xbox One and PlayStation 4 battling for #gamers hearts and dollars, but in the late 80s and early 90s, the war between #Mario and #Sonic was all anyone cared about. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are writing and directing a movie based on those gaming console wars between #Sega and Nintendo, according to a press release on Booktrade. SEE ALSO: Press Start: Every Nintendo Start Screen in Three Hours The film, to be produced by Sony Pictures and Scott Rudin, will be based on the upcoming book Console Wars: Sega, #Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation by Blake Harris, which is due out in August. Rogen and Goldberg are writing their own script based on the Console Wars book. The duo previously wrote and directed This Is The End for #Sony, a post-apocalyptic comedy starring the actors playing themselves. The #ConsoleWars book is described on Amazon as a mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry. It covers the period surrounding memorable game consoles like the Sega Genesis and Saturn, and the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. Harris will serve as executive producer for Rogen and Goldbergs film, but is also producing a documentary about Console Wars, according to Variety. The movie release date is not known.
