Moving the Goalposts: Remember a few years ago when Global Climate Change was called Global Warming? CO2 is a trace gas that comprises 0.04% of our atmosphere by volume. CO2 is the component that is converted into carbohydrates through, photosynthesis, that creates the base of our food chain. CO2, as a greenhouse gas, absorbs three narrow bandwidths of the infrared spectra (2, 3.25 and 17 um) and, at 0.04%, its absorbency is near zero.
