Mr. Golovin, Thank you for adding me to this facebook group. This is a positive and constructive undertaking. It is good to find a facebook venue with articulate debate. I started to write a response to a posting on the subject of Oswald, but decided to try this as a new topic to see what kind of responses might come forth. I have found it more instructive overall to investigate Theodore Shackley rather than to investigate Oswald. As a veteran of the mission to Beirut, Lebanon in 1983, seeing Shackley’s appearance in the background of the ostensible origination of the arms sales to Iran in the Iran-Contra Affair, as cited by the Tower Commission Report, a modified limited hangout discredited by the investigations of Robert Parry at Consortiumnews into the October Surprise of 1980, and Shackley’s cited memorandum of November 22nd, 1984 having been delivered to Vernon Walters (Draper), the same Vernon Walters (DDCI) that was in the room when Haldeman conveyed Nixon’s cryptic “bay of pigs” invocation to CIA Director Helms on June 23, 1972 in an attempt to get the CIA to end the FBI investigation into the Watergate break-in by symbolic allusion to the JFK assassination, as reported by Haldeman, this nexus unlocked quite a bit for me. Arguing about Oswald is like arguing about the Grassy Knoll. There is an objective truth somewhere and there are endless subjective opinions. A Warren Commission apologist is a fascist enabler. The end result is that we have a republic corrupted into an empire (eternal return) in which the Afghanistan War is declared over a week after it is announced that the U.S. will increase combat operations in the coming year by taking the (no longer) war to the Taliban in Afghanistan, not just confirmed or suspected Al Qaeda forces (BBC). The United States keeps the peace, the Pax Americana, while being the leading small arms exporter and declining to ratify the current effort by the U.N. to establish a small arms export control treaty. When Shackley testified before the Church Committee in 1975 under the alias of Halley, the initial deposition was given with only two committee staffers present, and Shackley, who was below Edward Lansdale and William Harvey, and above E. Howard Hunt and Frank Sturgis in the Operation Mongoose chain of command, claimed he knew nothing about notta, no knowledge of anything, just doing my job. In the short supplement to Shackley’s testimony, only one Church Committee member was present for a perfunctory declaration attesting to the veracity of the previous testimony, and that was none other than Committee ranking minority member Senator John Tower, the same John Tower that would head the Tower Commission that cited Shackley’s memo of November 22, 1984 as the origination of the arms sales to Iran which actually began in October of 1980. Investigate further, investigate further back than that November 22, 1984 memorandum (like into that October Surprise thing), and it could open up the whole “bay of pigs thing” all over again. Walters was in the room on June 23, 1972 when Haldeman conveyed Nixon’s “bay of pigs” reference invoking the Kennedy assassination, and Walters was the conduit of Shackley’s “November 22” (1984) invocation to cover up the Bush/Casey/Shackley October surprise of 1980. And Lee Hamilton no longer endorses his own Congressional October Surprise Committee findings clearing George H.W. Bush of the October Surprise allegations (Parry). And that’s why Uncle Sam sent me to Beirut in 1983, to be a pawn of militarism in the service of empire. God Bless America. maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=1450
