Mr. Walsh, Regarding your, um, Progressive Nam Vet/Chopper - TopicsExpress

Mr. Walsh, Regarding your, um, Progressive Nam Vet/Chopper Pilot and his Rant. Im not impressed. First of all, Im older than him and my service - 06/59-06/62 - started one month and two days after my 18th birthday, because I didnt wait for the draft to Pick me. Plus, the second half of my service was spent as the 8th Transportation Battalion, Light Helicopters, Public Information Office photographer stationed at Oberschleissheim, West Germany, just 5 miles from both Munich and Dachau. Let us just say that in a battalion of 800 men, 500 of whom were officers (mostly pilots), I got familiar with the behavior one Hell of a lot of them who were not really an Officer and a Gentleman. To me, either you served your country, regardless of the personal cost, or you served yourself and your career, regardless of the cost to anyone else. (The kind of self serving officer John Kerry was, comes to mind.) Way too many were of the latter category. As an EM, I had unique access and was in a unique position to observe many Leaders in their more revealing, self serving moments. If you doubt me, take an anonymous survey of the stagehands, engineers, etc, on your station for their honest opinions and see what you learn.
