Mr. Yost, I am the owner of Building Bridges and I take - TopicsExpress

Mr. Yost, I am the owner of Building Bridges and I take issue with your comments. “Blatantly wrong” is not taking a proactive stand to protect the safety of children in our community. As providers of early childhood education, we are mandated to protect the innocent through a variety of appointed bodies and regulations. We feel as though our voices are deafened and we must SCREAM to be heard. That is hard to swallow as a business owner, a mother, and a caregiver to the children in my center. We are simply trying to be proactive and avoid unnecessary risk. To scrutinize our effort to protect young children without speaking with me directly, or without seeking my input seems blatantly wrong and unprofessional. Mr. Yost, your comments in this article vilified me personally and professionally. I simply want to ensure that the children entrusted to my care are protected from any and all risks, regardless of the likelihood of those risks. Your comments are merely fanning the flames and have done nothing to acknowledge the legitimacy of our concerns. Blatant common sense dictates that any likelihood of risk is too great! This is a very complex issue with a variety of factors. I am willing to consider and review all sides of the issue but you do not seem to be willing to reciprocate. Laws, zoning requirements, and regulations should always be proactive and should always protect those that cannot protect or speak for themselves, including the mentally ill but also including our children. Please do not continue to dismiss our concerns as merely stigma; instead I would ask you to act responsibly and for the benefit of everyone involved. I urge each of you to share, comment and support a cause that is NOT intended to stigmatize the service or need, but to address legitimate potential risks being placed at our back door.
