MrSickboy Greaser and James W. James, here is something you will - TopicsExpress

MrSickboy Greaser and James W. James, here is something you will probably never hear otherwise, and this is the record that bankrupted Kapp Records in 1970, due to a lawsuit by Pan Am Airlines. The band consisted of two people - Danny Taylor on drums, and Simeon Coxe III, playing banjo and his strange homemade synthethiser called The Simeon, which consisted of two amplifiers, a radio, a wah-wah pedal and a number of audio signal generators operated by telegraph keys. In a way the Simeon was not unlike the Autoharp in that the 12 oscillators were preset for a particular frequency and waveform for each song. Plus one Hewlett-Packard oscillator fitted with a handle. It was something to see him play. This is the entire album Contact by Silver Apples. I have covered I Have Known Love only a couple of times. If you can listen to the whole thing, note the strangely prophetic last three words of Fantasies. Lets stop playing. And they did - for almost 30 years. I saw Simeon and a new Silver Apples...anyone that uses duct tape and WD-40 on stage and is not a comedian gets my vote! Track listing You and I (Simeon Coxe III, Danny Taylor) – 3:24 Water (Simeon, Taylor) – 4:18 Ruby (Joy May Creasy, Simeon, Taylor) – 2:32 Gypsy Love (Simeon, Stanley Warren, Taylor) – 5:36 Youre Not Foolin Me (Simeon, Taylor) – 6:26 I Have Known Love (Eileen Lewellen, Simeon, Taylor) – 3:53 A Pox on You (Simeon, Taylor) – 5:11 Confusion (Simeon, Taylor) – 3:34 Fantasies (Simeon, Taylor) – 5:57
