Much like the Garden itself, which unveiled the results of its $1 billion renovation project last fall, this years Big East Tournament wont exactly resemble those of McDermotts youth—or even his teenage years. Old conference standbys like Syracuse, Connecticut, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Cincinnati have all decamped to other conferences, while newcomers Xavier, Butler and Creighton are making their Big East Tournament debuts.
