Muriel Bowsers victory tonight will mean she joins just nine other women as mayors of the top 50 most populous cities in our country, with only two women in the top 25. That is not only enormously embarrassing but entirely opposed to our ideal of elected officials that reflect our electorate. We have no shortage of amazing, brilliant women in this country, and we desperately need to do some soul-searching on how they continue to be marginalized and overlooked in our democratic process.
