Musician John Rosamond Johnson (8/11/1873 - 11/11/1954) is best known for writing Lift Evry Voice and Sing with his brother, poet James Weldon Johnson. The brothers, along with Ron Cole, wrote and produced several Broadway Operattas., Johnson, trained at the New England Conservatory, was musical director of Oscar Hammersteins Grand Opera House in London, founded the New York Music School Settlement for the Colored, and published 4 collections of spirituals and folk songs
