Must speak my mind about something, which I know will be tagged somewhat as a homer-type comment from a Former/Always-Disney. This story moved on Yahoo Finance news. finance.yahoo/blogs/breakout/inflation-in-wonderland--disney-hikes-prices-as-much-as-10-142327651.html While the facts of the story may be correct, the errors in reporting it caused me to question whether this organizations management has any sense of responsibility in making sure their stories are related properly. Lets start with the written story. 2nd Sentence - 2nd Line: Disney Land... Really, Disney Land -- REALLY!!?? The park has been around 59 years (this coming July 17). Surely at least one person in the Fact Check Chain for Yahoo Financial News would have seen that and said Hey, gang. Its Disneyland, ONE WORD, not two! We need to change that. But sadly....no one did. Is this a big error? Not a gigantic one. But would it be any less of an error in referring to Micro Soft, Sub Way, Direct TV or Warner Brothers [for those who dont know, YES, the OFFICIAL name of that company is Warner Bros.]? Its the credibility of reporting here that bothers me. Second -- and maybe even a greater error -- the video that is used with the story. While the facts and issues reflect Disneys California property, ALL the video is Florida. Walt Disney World. First the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Disneys Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. When they talk about Park Hopper passes getting an increase in price, the visuals that go along with it show Floridas Magic Kingdom and other properties. So whats the deal? Would the story of George Harrisons guitar being auctioned off be correct with video of Keith Richards playing on stage? Or would a report regarding Derek Jeters final season be accurate with clips of David Wrights fielding? Hey -- the Beatles / the Stones; Yankees / Mets? Theyre almost the same, arent they? Has journalism really lost so much? [Even as I attached this story, Cinderella Castle MAGIC KINGDOM WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT FLORIDA pops up as the visual for a CALIFORNIA STORY!!]
