My 16 Year old son called me at work today to tell me he offered a homeless woman money today afterschool. She told him if he had all the money in the world she would not take it from him because hes black, and to go back to Africa. I was devestated. #Ignorance #Racism I teach Social Justice and facilitate youth human relations camps and dialouges but hearing this from your own child kicks you in the chest like a feeling of no other. Im having trouble processing this all but am lucky to be trained well enough to support our youth through an experience like this. Im going to have to utilize these skills to help my very own child get through this. Im just so disgusted.
