My 2nd cousin, Sammy Bush passed away Friday at the age of 65: Graveside service for former Snyder resident Sammie Martin Bush, 65, Nashville, TN, will be at 1:00 pm Monday, April 28, 2014 in the Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, OK, with his son Jammie Bush, Joy Church, Mt. Juliet, TN officiating. Mr. Bush passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 in Nashville, TN. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder. He was born October 22, 1948 at Fort Sill, OK to William C. and Mettie Pearl (Barker) Bush. He graduated from Snyder High School in the Class of 1966. He joined the US Army in 1968 and was commissioned a 2LT after Infantry Officer Candidate School in 1969 at Fort Benning, GA. He was a Captain serving as a Green Beret with Special Forces during Vietnam, and earned the following awards for his service: BSM with V device, Purple Heart with 1st oak leaf cluster, NDSM, Parachutist Badge, VSM, ARCOM, RVNCM with 60 device, 2 O/S service bars and the GCM. When he returned to Snyder after his service, he was the Editor of the Kiowa County Democrat for many years, and was involved with Snyder Western Days for many years, and with many rodeos in and around the Snyder area. He is survived by his father William C. Bush of Snyder, OK, his three sons, Jammie Bush & Connie of Mt. Juliet, TN, Patrick Bush & Jacqueline Oda of Oklahoma City, OK, Jacob Bush & Natasha Frame of Nashville, TN, his brother Stan Bush & Jean of Anthony, NM, sister Sherry Brown & Rick of Claremore, OK, three grandchildren, Austin, Chloe and Calista Bush and a great grandson Wyatt Bush. He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl Bush and his brother Steven C. Bush. He was a hero & a cowboy. He will be missed.
