My 2p on cardio..... --------------- Use it, dont abuse it. What do I mean? ---------------- Too many people include unnecessary amounts of cardio right from the word go when they decide to shift a little body fat. From my experience, as a general guideline and from what I have seen as a trainer with my own clients, anybody still in double figure body fat % ( maybe 18%+ for females) should not require daily bouts of cardio to lose body fat. Hours of cardio per week from week 1 is usually a good sign that your nutrition plan is lacking education, thought and individualisation. ------------------ What happens after 6-8 weeks when fat loss has plateaued and your already doing 3-4 hours per week of cardio? Usually what happens is Coach X increases cardio volume and/or reduces calorie intake. This can be repeated until said client stagnates again, usually still carrying a decent amount of body fat, metabolism driven into the ground and zero tools left in the box. At this point the client is probably knocking on the hospital door looking a bed. --------------- My thoughts..... Eliminate cardio until all other options have been exhausted, Ill even recommend training with resistance 2x per day before I would recommend an hour of cardio. --------------- Conclusion: You do not require cardio for fat loss. Simple.
