My Astronomy and Cosmology friends, I need your input! Theres a group on FB called the Big Bang Hoax. Looking at the posts, I couldnt tell if it was cranks, or a parody of pseudo-science groups. So I messaged them asking which it was. They got back to me today, and were verbose, reasonable, and polite - not your usual pseudoscience troll M.O. at all. My question is, their civility notwithstanding, what do you think of their statements? I post the exchange below: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Will Ryle So I am not sure whether you guys are seriously denying the big bang, or are a tongue-in-cheek group making fun of pseudoscience people. Which is it, cause it will determine if I join or not. Thank you. Big Bang Hoax Oh were denying the big bang alright. The only things we know about red shift is that it exists and objects that are further away are red shifted more. The rest is speculation. When the James Webb Telescope comes into operation heads are going to roll because were going to see objects that theoretically shouldnt be there at Z=10 before first light. Inflation was added to big bang as band-aid to fix a broken theory. When a theory doesnt work you have to look at why it doesnt work, not scramble to rationalize it. This is what we call an epi-cycle which is how Ptolemy was able by making the math more complicated explain the movements of the heavenly bodies around an Earth-Centered cosmos. The explanation of why we should accept that the CMBR is somehow left-over from the big bang is that it correlates with inflation theory. If a quantum physicist tried to justify a theory based on a correlation he would get laughed out of town. Back in 1997 the oldest stars in the galaxy were around 17 billion years old. The life cycle of stars was understood very well back then, however when cosmologists started narrowing down the life of the universe to 13.8 billion years the ages of the oldest stars were revised to around 13.4 billion years. Nobody understands what dark energy or dark matter is. Which is fine because they admit that they don’t know instead of making up a creation story. And that’s really what the Big Bang is. It’s a creation story dreamed up by a Catholic priest. It’s amazing that more people don’t see this and someone needs to speak out about it and thats why this page is here. Thank you for stopping by. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ...Well, Don? Lawrence Klaes?, Im interested what you guys think, and, of course, what any of my fine friends have to say on this. Thanks in advance for your responses, Im glad Im friends with so many bright and interesting people. :)
