My California experience was like my grandsons experience! The - TopicsExpress

My California experience was like my grandsons experience! The mission had a special club that you were on if you baptized a person the last week of your mission. As I served in Hollywood Ward the feeling for the missionaries was kind of cold. We didn’t have many dinner appointments and I felt that the likely chance of me baptizing someone the last week was certainly out of the question. Then in answer to prayer and fasting there walked into the church young 22year old by the name of Richard Zavad. I introduced myself to him and thought that he was a new move in and that he was certainly a return missionary. He told me that he had just came to visit because he had friends in the valley that were LDS and thought that he would visit their church by himself. I asked if we could teach him at the church and he responded in the affirmative. We taught him and when the day came for him to be baptized I had another handicap. I had a cast on my foot and was in the cast for two months. I didn’t know if I could get the cast wet but we became innovative and taped bread sacks over the cast so I could go down into the font. This allowed me to make the last week club.
