My Christmas wishes to National Service Scheme volunteers across India who are attending the annual 10-day Camp in villages building roads, planting trees, cleaning hospitals and learning from the local community. It is so heartening to see camp photos appearing on my timeline - of college friends leading students today as program officers. I have not missed a single NSS camp during my pre-degree and BA days. Student party leaders who are at each others throats in college would sing, dance, cook and work together at the 10-day Camp. Thanks to the camp boding, it was KSU friends who shared glycerine with me - an SFI candidate - to induce tears to attract sympathy votes from female students during a college election. At villages, we would first find the nearest temple pond and head there every morning - Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Atheists. During one camp at Chennithala, students, boys and girls of all religions and castes, cleaned the temple pond. In the changed political scenario today, i would think twice before being part of such an endeavour. To all NSS friends of Mavelikara Bishop Moore College i cherish your love, kindness and camaraderie.
