My Crete Initiation: In my last few days on Crete I received a powerful initiation. It started with driving the windy mountain pass road from the south up Dikti Mountain just before sunset, as the sky was darkening and the clouds getting low. This combination of dangerous windy road with sharp corners and sheer drops, low light conditions and clusters of misty cloud triggered a deep fear response in me. But there I was in a car being driven that way, with no other option other than asking to be dropped off in the last mountain village! So I had the opportunity to just let the energy and flow of emotion flow through me...my whole body was shaking and trembling, and tears were flowing like a mountain river. It really thundered through my heart. But I let it flow... After a long deep sleep, the morning took us deep into Dikti cave for meditation and chanting. An incredible place on earth, said to be the birthplace of Zeus. It is certainly a place full of presence, a stillpoint of this planet. After an abundant breakfast at our charming hotel, we stumbled upon a second cave...this one not so much on the tourist trail (Zeuss cave needs to be seen early morning or later afternoon). This cave was an absolute oracle. We went in and turned off our light sources and sat in darkness in meditation. The cave seemed to whisper the voice of the ancient oracle, leading us through fear into ecstasy. I felt tremendous energy in my body, rising up my legs and into my pelvis. It was similar to the energy of the mountain drive, but held within a still body. I watched it and it pulsed up through me like a thick snake of energy, waving up through my body. We ended mediation with a chant and emerged into the sunlight, leap in the car and drove straight to the airport. Goodbye Crete, and thank you! Mysterious and magical island....
