The education of voters is inadequate to off-set the massive propaganda machine that the extreme right has at their disposal. Fox News alone is constantly attacking working people, sugar coating their attacks with wedge issues that for some reason the middle class want to identify with. Right wing hatred and fear-mongering appeals to too many hard working Americans. Peoples attitudes are the result of their resentment of having to work so hard for so little. The likes of Rush Limbaugh, have fanned the flames of discontent. Right wing propaganda encourages folks to channel that discontent at those languishing in poverty. Its the family dependent on welfare that is a drag on the country. So the conservatives would have us believe. Its easy for ill-informed people to look at all the wrong reasons for the despair if the working class. We need to develop a plan to educate and encourage voters, to participate, to care and to believe we can still make a difference. The corporate oligarchs have managed to convince hard working Americans that somehow more Religion, greater faith in the greed of corporations, and a corrupt dysfunctional Wall Street is going to improve their financial instability. That has not been the case. For over fifty years we have been told by conservatives that a better life for alll will trickle down to the middle class. The middle class is still waiting for that to happen. Its past time for Americans to abandon this idea. Stop allowing wedge issues to divide the working men and women, and unite under a banner of living wage jobs fir all. When Americans vote their economics, the elite wealthy are forced to pay their fair share. Working families have paid dearly, corporations are paying little while enjoying huge profits. If working people do not show up at the polls in November, then all we can expect is more of the same.
