My Farewell Address... “Success isn’t just about what you accomplish in your life, it’s about what you inspire others to do.” To Doctor Anita B. Somoso - School President, Dr. Anthony Voltaire B. Somoso - Vice President, Dr. Meriam G. Solilapsi - Dean of College, Dr. Rose A. Licarte – Principal, Faculty, Staff, Fellow graduates, parents, friends and visitors, a pleasant morning to all. On behalf of our Muslim brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alaikum. I may say that this day will be greatly rated for being one of the most prestigious events of our lives – our graduation day! In four years of staying in this institution, as a college student, I may conclude that counting all the wonderful moments that we’ve shared in our college days is a mind-boggling thing, because even the most depressing ones that we lived through contributed in helping us to become what we are today. We could still remember how exciting it was to enter college life and pursue what we want for our future. As the classes started we were all amazed because we need to note down almost all the lectures of our instructors to have refenrence for the examinations. It was difficult because from high school years all the lessons were in the books and it is a spoon-feed discussion. Here, we need to research, scan the books at the library and advance study for the next lessons because we do not know if there will be a surprise quiz or an oral recitation about the lesson, this means that we need to be ready all the time. We did not wait for the instructor to say that there will be a quiz or activities for the next meeting; all we need was to be ready. Adjustments were all we did during our college years but we never forgotten to had fun and create memories in our student life. For the high school graduates, you will look back on the first time you entered your classrooms during your freshmen and looked how young you were then. Now, you are all grown up seniors and set as a good example to your constituents. The first phase of your student life ends here but you need to continue what you have started and that is the college life! To my fellow college graduates, studying is partially over! After all the final exams, bundles of research papers, projects – cramming to pass it on the deadly deadline, practicum, graduation thesis and it’s nerve-wrecking defense and duties in the hospitals with extensions, now we all received our diplomas and it’s telling us that we are free to do what we want. The real journey of being a degree holder starts here! Some of us will change, but all I know is that all the memories, the fun and the experiences that we’ve been through can’t be taken away from us so easily. Here, we all learned how to be responsible, feel the hardships, how fun life is, how to make choices, heartaches and headaches, the game of love, the time we are pressured, those classmates and friends we can talk to, of our ups and downs and the teachers we loved the most, are the events we will never forget. Our friends and teachers become part of our lives as students and as a whole being. To our teachers who molded and educate us to be a successful one, you will always be part of our lives and you will be in our hearts forever! What we have right now, we owe it all to our dearest parents who strived hard just to send us to school and most of all the great providence and guidance of our Almighty God! Even though we will be travelling different path, we should always remember that we are a product of North Davao Colleges and we share common concept – knowledge and we are honed spiritually, morally, emotionally that gives us freedom. We are trained to have a good academic performance, to be God fearing individuals and free to choose what we want and yet guided for our choices. And now, we are all “doomed to succeed!” Aisiodoxos 2014, we are indeed with excellence and brilliancy. Hold that name wherever you go and be proud! We will bid goodbye today, but never will go away. We will always look back to our alma mater for it is here, where it all began. Before I take my seat, may I request the Aisiodoxos 2014 to please stand and we will sing our class song, “Shine Your Way”. Morning is breaking, darkness is fading, we found the way to the light, its such a beautiful sight. Farewell! Farewell! Hope to see you again in the crossroads of our lives! (kung naa mu corrections ok lang... hehe)
