My Grandad turns 91 today, which seems quite remarkable to me. // I remember when my sister got her first portable cd player a great many years ago and Grandpop was really excited by it and wanted a go with it but my sister only had one album with her when we went to visit him. // He looked down the track list and asked for Cest La Vie (apparently a famous orchestral piece he liked) and, when my sister played THIS rather different version into his ears, he took the headphones off and said No, thats not what I had in mind and that was the brilliant end of that. // Tonight I am raising a glass of orange squash to the great man, who I am learning to admire more and more now that its too late. // But then, as that orchestral piece says, and as B*Witched also put into words rather beautifully, thats life. // And how wonderful it can be! // :)
