My Grandson Rick Allen very kindly posted my daily diary from August 1914. Now that I have access to Facebook I am posting my own diary but realised that it would not be complete if I didnt back post the earlier entries. In the next few days I will post weekly accounts of my experiences from July 31st to 23rd December 1914. This seems to be an excellent opportunity to thank my daughter, Jean Baker, who for 37 years from 1977, safely kept the 6 books that I wrote in, mainly in pencil, and to thank my Grandaughter, Judi Maitland, who has typed word for word all that I wrote; the pencil entries being impossible to legibly scan. Who am I you may ask? Well I am a cabinet maker but I enlisted in July, 1914 and joined the Royal Army Medical Corps, 3rd North Midland Field Ambulance, 46th Division. I was posted first to Burton on Trent and then to Luton where I received most of my training. This is a diary kept by me, Corporal J.H.Wilson, of some interesting events which occurred during the years 1914-1919. Especially from the 31st of July when I went home to proceed to camp and eventually to Luton and other towns herein named, on active service.
