My Mam grew up on the Flags One day Stubshaw School asked her to speak to the children about her life in early 1900.s. The result was an account of life you wont find in any history book. It was both sad but also very funny. One of her tales was about a fellow called Tommy Ord who decided to build a pigeon. hut. Nothing wrong in that but he built it in his upstairs bedroom. Everyone could hear his swearing when he realised he couldnt get it down the stairs. Another one was about the horse that brought the coal . its name was Bob Mrs Beddows loved the horse and used to in vite him in for a jam buttie .
