My Mercedes Benz windshield was hit by a big flying rock while driving on freeway and cracked due to heavy impact. I was not worried since I always had full coverage. I called insurance, made appointment. I was happy that they sent someone at home to replace, feeling good about service until the moment of surprise. I was shocked to see they brought a generic windshield, not the original. When I asked I was told I will need to pay out of pocket for original. They are generous while taking my premium, when time to give it becomes less than original that would reduce value of the collateral? Am I insured or insuring the insurance business with my dollar vote? Please write and share if anyone had similar experiences and how you handled.
