My N Scale scratch built brass body and plywood chassis Y 101 with weathering. Using the Train Hobby books, suitable weathering is being applied as per the prototype. First a layer of Floquil Rail Brown was airbrushed from the top down and some applied to the sides. Whilst the rail brown was only about 15 minutes old the rusty grungy roof colour was applied using Aim Dark Earth. Next Aim black was applied around the exhaust and surrounding area where the smoke drifts followed by a coat of oil/fuel staining around vents as per photos. Just near the cab door the area was buffed a bit to show a bit of sheen and wear where the crew brush past as per the real thing.
