My Opinion on the Recent Nkandla Debacle! Nkandla ( Whether - TopicsExpress

My Opinion on the Recent Nkandla Debacle! Nkandla ( Whether you call it Secure in Comfort or Prestige Project A) is back again on the table for consumption. Let me utter my views on it in a four bullet manner. Firstly it is interesting that Public Protector Thuli Madonselas letter to President Zuma was sent on the same day that the EFF disrupted pairlament. Whilst we are calling for the respect of the rule of law and the protection of Chapter 9 institutions we should also call for the protection of these institutions from the prejudices of the very people that occupy them and their relation to political events. Before the May 7 elections, we watched as the report of the Public Protector was released in a manner that sought to nefariously influence decision of the South African voter. It is my opinion that when this could not happen Thuli decided to have a carefully crafted counter strategy, whose intention was to undermine the President under the guise of protecting her office and the constitution. The tone of the letter, with the timeline given, appears to be a provocation rather than an attempt to get to the bottom of Nkandla saga. Secondly, it is also shocking that whilst everyone agrees, including the Public Protector, that officials of the Department of Public Works exorbitantly inflated prices, still an instructive statement is made that Zuma must pay some of the money that was used in the Prestige Project A. Will this not make Zuma a victim of price inflation as well as he will have to pay the costs at such a price. Or is this issue not considered when speaking about the President and his hard earned money. Thirdly, I believe that the Presidents response to the Report was not well calculated and I hope that it is not related to the reports of last weeks Mail and Guardian about the poor advice that he gets from his lawyers. I say this because the President has always said that he will respond to the report after the conclusion of the investigation currently underway by the Special Investigating Unit. I thus remain confused by the recent decision of the president to change his mind and thus respond, which has yet again brought to life the issue of Nkandla even before all investigations could be completed. Lastly, I believe that the SIU is dealing with the matter in a fresh and hardcore manner. We will now know the testimony of the architect, Khulubuse has started speaking about how the architect was introduced to the president and prosecution can even begin after this type of investigation. I will not comment on the question of EFF and pairlament as it is not odd behaviour considering the anarchic nature of that organisation. All in all I plead that we protect our demoractic institutions. I rest!
