My Quilt was accepted!!! (photos after - as it is for a NM client who wants to be surprised) Chandler Center for the Arts presents Art Quilts XIX “Permission to Play” An exhibition of Storytelling Art Quilts juried by Denise Currier November 7, 2014 – January 17, 2015 Chandler, AZ [September 16, 2014] Stop by the Chandler Center for the Arts and enjoy 69 art quilts that reveal an art quilters’ playful response to stories they aspire to tell. The art quilts were created by allowing each artist’s inner child the opportunity to travel a road of self-discovery with “Permission to Play.” The call to artists requested art quilters submit brand new work to this annual exhibition of contemporary artworks, showcasing one of the finest collections of art quilts on display in the regional Southwest. The dynamic way these artists have responded to the challenge of the Call to Artists has been inspirational to say the least. Each art quilt in the exhibit reveals a journey, a place in time or a family history that touches the heart. The exhibition is juried by Denise Currier, an established authority and artist in the world of textile art. From her studio in Mesa, Arizona, Denise has worked with numerous professional organizations, curated and exhibited her own works across the country. Chandler’s Art Quilt exhibition has grown from a local and regional quilt show to a respected vehicle for contemporary works. The exhibition draws entries from around the United States and Canada and allows thousands of visitors each year to experience quilting as an art form. The exhibition is produced by the Chandler Center for the Arts and is presented by the Chandler Cultural Foundation and the Chandler Arts Commission.
