My Right Ankle I quite like my right ankle It’s always - TopicsExpress

My Right Ankle I quite like my right ankle It’s always served me well But at this very moment There’s a sorry tale to tell Every day for six whole weeks I’d get my trainers on Tie the laces tuck them in Then it’s time to run Before I leave the flat behind I warm up as I should I tell myself I’m ready I’m feeling rather good I check for keys and water Ear phones for my songs Off I go the music’s good What could possibly go wrong Beach huts on the left of me Sand and sea the right Families sharing summer No clouds, the sun is bright Running now within my world Nothing can stop me now Except the dog not on his lead Who hasn’t been taught how…? To behave when in a public place When people are around Not to scare them half to death To run and jump and bound He took me from within my world In thirty seconds flat I stopped because I had to Then his owner called him back It’s alright he won’t bite you He shouted with a sneer Sat back down upon the sand To have another beer I thought about responding But decided to refrain The fire in my right ankle Was glowing hot with pain I tried my best to look unscathed Walked slowly to the flat Once inside I moaned and groaned Now this is where I’m at ! I’m writing this whilst on my bed As elevating the sprain That’s wrapped up well in frozen peas and driving me insane I’m ridiculously frustrated As I always move with speed Those of you who know me well will know I feel aggrieved I really have no right to whinge As I know that it will heal Some folk will never walk again Imagine how they feel !!
