My Song To Start The Week 7 Work Song - Nina Simone Every time I listen to Nina sing this song it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. The power of her delivery leaves me wide eyed with admiration and wonder and since I’ve found this visual to go with the song, I’m a frequent visitor to watch as well as listen. She sings every word with an emotion and intention that leaves me in no doubt as to her conviction, and she hits me where it counts. On stage, Nina was a lady of few words. She didn’t need to speak only sing as everything she thought and believed was in there. I listen and feel her sing me through her own personal history as well as that of her ancestors. She was educating as well as entertaining.
