My Thoughts concerning Pastor Jamal Bryant and his usage of a Chris Brown lyric in his sermon: Pastor Jamal Bryant preached a good word that has been unfortunately undermined by one sentence. Ministers have to always be extremely meticulous with the words and ways we use to deliver a message. With this said, it seems that the most scarring and scandalous revelation in this story is that the saved (who arent exactly saints themselves) are scrutinizing him more than sinners. It has been a sad commentary within our churches in which we are the only army that kills its own wounded soldiers. In my opinion a good sermon yields positive life changing results. Did any of Pastor Bryants critics survey the congregation to see how they felt about a message that was prepared for and delivered to them? I would like to ask one final and pertinent question. Do we know how many souls got saved or joined this particular ecclesiastical body after hearing this message? I think we can all agree the phrase These hoes aint loyal could and should have been omitted but let us practice the grace and mercy that we have so freely received. We are all human beings that have been called to do divine things. Nevertheless, the good news is more people heard that sermon in its entirety than usual because of all the hoopla and hype. I believe someone somewhere that has never visited Empowerment Temple or had never even heard of a Jamal Bryant was touched in a positive way. God STILL got the glory out of this story and for this I am glad!
