My Top 10 Movies: Number 10: Unbreakable M. Night Shyamalan went totally off the deep end and has been making some horrible movies. Its hard to remember that this guy, at one point, was the most captivating and interesting storytellers in film. His stories werent usually large scale, often being set in small towns; they didnt contain grandiose plots of world destruction, choosing to focus on a small cast of interesting characters; and there was always a twist. M. Night mastered the twist. He would leave it right in front of you for the entire movie and at the very end youd be thinking: How did I not see that!?. The man was a genius storyteller, and I think Unbreakable is his greatest story. Before Marvel came and offered us large, epic superhero battles against aliens and mutants, Unbreakable gave us a superhero story on a smaller and more intimate scale. Maybe one day M.
