My album Premonition was reviewed recently in a blog on The Music Spectrum. Com ..just found this...Its good to know that people still appreciate that album!!!! Thank you to who ever wrote this review!!! Im not very good at predicting the future, but somehow, I knew that Id find myself sitting down in my living room and listening to at least one more Eurodance/Eurohouse album before this day came to an end. What I didnt predict, however, was that my Eurodance cravings would also steer me right back into the realm of Freestyle music! So, it was double my pleasure when I hooked up with Canadian Latin Freestyle singer Thiago Derucio less than 24 hours after my festive Spanish party with the German duo ALEX SWINGS OSCAR SINGS! and started checking out his full-length debut album, Premonition. Interesting that its titled as such, because before I did start listening, I already knew in my mind that Id get to enjoy plenty of jams with that classic 80s Freestyle sound and the usual sunny love lyrics that often comes along with it. Dont Let Time, No One Else, One Night Love, Theres Nothing, Listen To My Heart, Ill Move On and Next To You: in all of these is where the Freestyle party is alive and hoppin, with Listen To My Heart and, despite its lets-makeup-or-breakup theme in the lyrics, Ill Move On, being two of my favorites largely because of their cool beats and One Night Love being a third fave as, once again, I get to hear another singer voicing some of the lyrics in Spanish (although its more like a seductive whisper when Thiago says te quiero and te amo, which both translate to I love you). Amidst all of the fun Freestyle mania is an exciting Eurodance party of arena-sized proportions, and the high-energy hysteria first erupts on the I Believe, followed by Turn Back Time (you can feel this one building up with the cheering crowd ambiance and the distorted echoes of Thiagos voice in the opening movements), In Your Eyes, where a female vocalist named Zoe—whom I assume is a Freestyle singer herself—joins in with Thiago (Im wondering if Thiago is a stylized spelling of the common Latin male name Diego?) and—not to be missed—the trancey house remixes of both Turn Back Time and Theres Nothing (I really like the remix for this one, as it has a touch of disco mixed in with that glitzy 90s production). Seems Thiago wanted to have a little Spanish fiesta of his own when he performs the lively Latin-flavored Dance With Me (Baila Conmigo) on the albums fourth track. And you know I got a huge thrill outta this one! Even when the Freestyle festivities and the Eurodance extravaganza cool off, the entertainment never stops. Not only can Thiago throw down the dance cuts, but hes very capable at delivering the soft ballads as well. My Bad had intrigued me as soon as I scanned the title. We Americans know and use this hip, alternative expression to saying Im sorry all the time in everyday conversation, but never did I think I would hear it as the main lyrics in one of the sweetest love songs Ive heard so far this year! And you and feel in the song that Thiago is saying it like he means it. Right after that gem is another soft ballad that sparkles just as much: Show Me. A potential wedding song? I think so! This one is just really, really nice; theres no better way to say it! And when the pitch is taken up in the songs final moments, it put an even thicker coating of sweet icing on the cake. Ironically, my #1 favorite also happens to be the one whose lyrics I understood the least: Non Ci Sei. At first glance, the title looked Italian to me, but when I heard some Spanish lyrics, I thought otherwise. For all I know, it could even be Portuguese! Ill have to verify that later, but for now, what I can say is that as soon as I heard the magically epic dreaminess of the songs melody against Thiagos tenderly mellow voice, I completely fell in L-O-V-E this song. music-spectrum.blogspot.ca/2014/02/thiago-derucio-premonition-2006.html
