My attention has just been drawn to an allegation posted by Deborah Ainguah on the wall of THE PRESBYTERIAN that the Melody Band and the Church Choir charge GHS 200.00 for their services at wedding ceremonies. As the Band Leader, I can say on authority that Session has not given any directive to the Melody Band to charge GHS 200.00 from anybody neither has it charged anybody GHS 200.00 for wedding services. I can however confirm that members pay GHS 80.00 for the services of the Band during their wedding ceremonies and this is justified. It is a choice one has to make whether to engage the Melody Band and/or the Church Choir during their wedding ceremonies. With or without the two groups the ceremony can be held successfully. The question I want to ask Deborah Ainguah is that; 1) has she considered how the instruments are maintained, 2) Does she know where members in the band and for that matter the Church Choir live, and 3) Does she know the means by which they commute from their house to rehearse and finally perform at such functions. I will advise Deborah Ainguah to checked her facts before misinforming the public and I hope this will close the chapter on this unwarranted comment by the Deborah Ainguah.
