My book titled: The Pride Of An African Migrant is now available on Amazon. it just coasts: 6.30 pounds. Kindle prime users can have it for free. Below is the short description of the book. ‘’The Pride Of An African Migrant’’ narrates the life of a young Cameroonian who i am in the United Kingdom. I travelled to England to pursue my higher education. However for financial reasons i was unable to complete my studies and consequently i became an irregular immigrant. In the hope to carry on with my studies, i sought asylum in the United Kingdom which was later denied to me then i became a destitute asylum seeker. This gave me the chance to witness the life of Asylum seekers, especially African asylum seekers, their life is characterised by homelessness, hungriness, torture, imprisonment, assassination, suicide and much more. In the United Kingdom asylum seekers who voluntary refuse to return to their countries, particularly Africans are subject to indescribable violations of human rights, tortures, imprisonment and assassinations by the British immigration officers. Having peacefully protested against the killing of an African asylum seeker by the British immigration officers, i was arrested and nakedly detained in a cold cell then later my residence was set on fire. Thus this book is an appeal to the United Nations High Commission For Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations High Commission For Human Rights (UNHCHR) for them to properly look at these matters and to come up with appropriate measures. Although John Mearsheiner said: ‘’ The most powerful states in the system create and shape institutions so that they can maintain their share of world power’’, However i still believe in these institutions. One of the objectives of this book is to fight down xenophobia and promote a harmonious coexistence between migrants and Europeans in particular and between all living beings in general. No matter what can be said throughout this book, by the end of this book, you will come to the conclusion that, this book only aims to arise compassion and wisdom in the heart of men which are imperative for world peace. In order to have a chance to legally stay in the United Kingdom, African migrants who are lucky not to be tortured, inflict upon themselves an indescribable and unsupportable degree of pain such as, ironing one own body with a very hot iron, other commit suicide and other prefer imprisonment than returning to Africa. And yet thousands of Africans are risking their lives every day to cross the dreadful sea to enter Europe. It just seems to me that nothing and nobody can stop them. Not even the force of nature like the dreadful sea or the barbarism and inhumanity of European immigration officers. Observing all this, it is obvious that the words of one of the African prophets, a great man of Kunde, Simon Kimbagu have come to pass. In one of his speeches in 1921 in the colonial Democratic Republic of Congo, Simon Kimbagu said: ‘’ The years that will follow the false independence that most African countries will acquire in 1960 will be characterised by a massive exodus of young Africans to the western world to escape from misery and oppression which will be caused by African dictators who will take power to serve their own interests and those of western countries’’. However without discarding the prophecy of this great man of Kunde Simon Kimbagu, by the end of this book, we will come to the conclusion that, it is not only misery and oppression that are the causes of the massive exodus of Africans to the western world but it is the lack of pride and dignity. Because when these values (pride and dignity) are capital to us, we are able to accept the unacceptable. Hence the title of the book: ‘’ The Pride Of An African Migrant’’.....
