My brother Joe’s wife, Fran died today. She was 84. That was just like Fran, so thoughtful and caring of others that she would wait for the day after Christmas to leave us. Fran was more than Joe’s wife to all of us. To Kathy and me, she was such a great, great sister-in-law. She was that way to her three daughters and her grand children as well. In the sixties, when I was starting out in the concert promotion business, I failed financially with a project that I called The Electric Theatre and I was in need of money, she and my brother Joe, without me asking, came to my rescue with a $3,500 loan. But that is not what made her such a great person. She and Joe worked all of our concerts. Fran and Joe were such familiar faces at the Syria Mosque, I C Light Amphitheatre at Station Square, The A J Palumbo Center and The Stanley Theatre that many times people thought they were Kathy and me. Fran was one of the quiet persons who loved the theatre, enjoyed her work, did it efficiently and it would take two other people to do what she made seem effortlessly. She was a fixture at all of our box offices. Above all else, Fran was a spiritual person and I am sure when she faced God, she was welcomed and told, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
