Our father, Robert Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinsons disease - a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinsons disease. Our father, Robert G. Trumbour was one of the many who have suffered from this relentless disease. Dad began and ended each day of his fight with immeasurable grace and inner strength, more than I would have ever imagined possible given what he endured even on the best of days during his illness. On November 27th of 2013 we lost our dad to Parkinsons disease, he was surrounded by his family. I chose to run the New York Marathon for my family and in honor of my father last May and have been training ever since and I now find myself in my last month of training. This run is important not for the distance it covers or for excitement it will bring to finish (having received the genetic code of willfulness from my dad, I will finish!) but rather for what partnering with the Michael J. Fox Foundation means, it is simply, a race to a cure. You need to believe as I do that for each race and for every training mile leading up to it we are getting closer and closer to a cure. Closer to ending the suffering that our dad and countless others have had to endure. If you knew Bob you know he was always involved in giving to those who needed help and he often did so without ever telling anyone, he did it because he it was the right thing to do. I know if my father could run this race he would. His race was far more enduring and far more exhausting, he woke each day facing marathon and never once complained about the day in front of him. On November 2nd I will run for him. After many training runs and a few pairs of shoes I am here to ask for your help. It is less than one month from race day, I am physically ready but we need your help. If you are reading this page you have likely been effected by this unforgiving disease, lets end it. Please contribute what you can to this effort and make a difference! With love, Rob Congrats Rob and thank you!
