My cousin Steve Marton nails it below. Me here, as introduction: The absurdity of the current five-member majority of the U.S. Supreme Court boggles the mind. Its not a matter (only) of Right vs. Left, strict or organic construction, etc. These men -- and they are all men -- are pursuing a fantasy ideology filled with such obsessions as corporate personhood and guns for all -- that even they cant explain, to the citizenry or each other. Now Steve: Well if they get to cherry pick the coverage they contribute under the ACA, lets all play. So, I would like, based on my own firmly held beliefs, to discontinue any coverage, in the form of my tax support, for the military. As Im a devout pacifist, I cannot in good conscience see my tax contributions put towards armaments. I dont disavow paying my fair share of taxes* (*that topic is for another day) but I would like them to go directly to PUBLIC education (not charters), health care, and food support programs. I would put a % towards environmental programs but of course fairness requires the polluters to handle that.
