My dad was the biggest Pink Floyd fan on the planet, and an audiophile in general. Right now Im listening to The Wall on my iPad with his Klipsch headphones made for iPad, iPhone and iPod. Wow. I had no idea there were such superb headphones made for Apple mobile devices. We brought some of his other Klipsch speakers home on this trip, and will get still others later. When he died, he had an obscure live Pink Floyd CD in his home stereo, and and a Jimi Hendrix CD in his car. I brought home so much meaningful stuff on this first trip that I can hardly turn around without encountering him in our home. An oil portrait of him done in my presence by my cousin David, who died of AIDS in 2001; a big, heavy stainless spoon he always used to scoop the homemade ice cream from the freezing can into some other container; more original art; more Pink Floyd CDs than I knew existed in the world; old but very useful kitchen gadgets; the worn, metal Zippo lighter he used for decades to light the Lucky Strike non-filters that eventually killed him; tools, t-shirts I could not let go, and countless other things that smell like him, including his ashes, in a beautiful wooden box thats soft as silk and in our living room. My heart is broken. But my dad is free now, united forever with brahman.
