My daughter just came back home from the hospital, she had a twisted ankle and a bruise on her foot that turned into a sprained foot and two blood blisters that ended up being a fairly nasty and (at least in my opinion) rather aggressive infection. I have spent most of the last seven days in the hospital with her and I will say that I am very proud of the way that she handled herself during these trials, even when she tore the nurses apart in the OR recovery room who later described her as “Disgruntled” (that’s my girl!) I won’t lie in the beginning things were a bit hectic and crazy and there were some concerns that she might lose at least part of her foot but after two surgeries and a week of some very powerful IV antibiotics she was able to come home. She still has a long road to recovery to travel though: 2 more weeks of antibiotics, and up to four to six weeks of having a Wound V.A.C on her foot with some in home healthcare, but we’ll get through it, that’s who we are, that’s what we do.
