My day so far: Mr. Nick, Im sorry for threatening you and saying Im gonna bash your head into the computer and kirkin out on you if you didnt give me the ball - Student 1 (7th grade black male) Student 2 8th grade black male: ... but the teacher shouldnt have tried to tell me to sit down and I wouldnt be in the office. Student 3 6th grade black male - when I asked why are you being detained by this security officer, he responds, THEY was..... not taking responsibility for his actions. Student 4 8th grade black male: Detained elsewhere in the building...After questioning admitted, Yea Mr. Nick I took her purse and spent the money. .. I share this not to label our boys/KINGS. Many of them self-report good grades and I see improvement in self control, etc. However, I have to impress upon you, that protests, prayer, etc. are great, but day to day work, mentoring boys on a routine basis, and exposing them to responsible, caring Black males is valuable and positively, life altering. Our community needs more mentors! Off to my next school to empower, expose and educate young males to succeed. @ichange4theking #mentoringmatters
