My fears of a setback came true last night. 3:00am: Well thats uncomfortable. 3:30am: Sweet baby carrots, mother turnip. 3:45am: (Dialogue censored). 4:00am: I SURRENDER!!!. As I crawl on my hands and knees down the stairs to reach my car- only to determine there is no way I am capable of driving. Very reluctantly I call an ambulance instead of a taxi because they are more likely to be understanding of vomiters. I wait on my hands and knees like a helpless puppy because it is the most comfortable position I can find. As the ambulance takes me away all I can feel is deja vu. Ive been here before. Here I am in an ambulance- days before leaving for Everest. Yet again! How is this possible? An X-ray, some blood work, a few pain killer shots to the bum cheeks and an ultra-sound later -voila- the culprit has been identified. There it is on the screen, like Hey, dude just stopped by to mess with you, brought some friends! A gallstone the size of meatball and some little baby raisin friends. Awesome. Just freaking awesome. Is the world playing this joke on me because I really arent meant to climb Everest? Or is the world just throwing me meatball curve balls to truly test me. Can I still go Doc? He scrunches his face and raises his eyebrows. Well, I personally wouldnt be going to climb the Himalayas with a gallstone that size, if you have another attack thats the last place I would want to be. Well you clearly didnt spend the last several months getting annihilated by a personal trainer in preparation for it and then dropped $800 on a hybrid model sleeping bag. Theres a possibility it wont happen again. See your family doctor in a few days, let him make the call. And with that they released me from the hospital the next day at Noon. Me and my meatball raisin friends had a really really a good time. In this moment I cannot cope with the idea of not going on the expedition, this is the first time Ive encountered the gallstone situation, I never expected it. I know I have to seriously seriously think this through. Friends whom have had a severe attack before......how long was it between the first and the second? I was in enough pain last night to prevent me from doing anything but crawl like a puppy. Anything else on that scale would prevent me from going, I honestly didnt think that was possible given the ordeal two+ years ago. I gotta talk this out, I will be gone in India/Nepal for one month. Experienced Stoners....... WHAT DO YOU THINK?
