My fellow Afrikan people – Greetings to you. If you are an Afrikan person; if you are a black person; if you are proud of your Afrikan roots, then this is addressed to you. I write this correspondence in the spirit of love, in the spirit of UBUNTU, in the spirit of unity, and with all respect and honour I would like to acknowledge all the different tribes, cultures and ethnicities that serve as key components of our collective Afrikan family. What is happening to our Afrikanism? What is happening to the spirit of UBUNTU – the spirit of togetherness – the spirit of oneness that was once prevalent in our Afrikan families and communities? Where has the love gone? The love for our selves as individuals; the love for our brothers and sisters; the love for our parents; the love for the general community? My fellow Afrikans; what is happening to our race; what is happening to our nation? How are we to survive this turmoil save we restore our UBUNTU; save we fight to maintain our identity? How are we to demand our place in society save we unite and be as one as was once the case? How are we to claim respect from other nations and races, if we ourselves fail to respect each other? How are we supposed to be a functional Afrikan society if we fail to help each other? This is a cry for Afrika; this is a cry for the restoration of our collective Afrikan identity. Sickness and poverty has become so prevalent in our Afrikan communities that it has been accepted as “Normal”. We seem to have forgotten that poverty, suffering and sickness are not natural – it is NOT Godly. What happened to the days when we use to live up to 200 years old; the times where disease was not part of our lives; the times where malnutrition and chemical intoxication were foreign concepts to us? Our society is deteriorating at a very fast pace. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. There are theories that suggest that the black people of Afrika are headed for extinction. Of course that is a highly debatable subject; however, I invite you to consider the high levels of death, illness, suffering and poverty among Afrikans; review the turmoil that is happening in different parts of our continent “Afrika”. If this is anything to go by; I would say that if we are to save our species; the first thing would be to ensure our survival – to decrease our mortality rate (death rate). That automatically touches on the aspect of health. We are sick and dying so much as Afrikans because we are unhealthy; we are stressed, we are burdened with malnutrition and chemical intoxication. If this, according to me, were to receive sufficient attention, the death rate in Afrika would be drastically reduced. Of course there are a number of other important factors that blend into this.
