My first post on this group so be gentle with me. I bought these plates a few weeks ago from a charity shop and hoping some this groups members can help me out with some information. When I purchased them each plate had one of those horrible stick on plate hangers on the back and therefore the marks were covered. I actually thought they may be Chinese as the porcelain has that look to it, pitting, rust spots etc, if you know what I mean. Admittedly the design does not look Chinese which is why I was so curious in the first place. Anyway once the plate hangers were removed the marks appeared to be Japanese. My knowledge of Japanese ceramics is somewhat limited but none of the items I have handled have resemble the porcelain that these plates are made from. So my question is does this point to age or are they just low quality items?
