My friend asked me for advice Parenting advice ha but I think i came up with something relatable, at least.I want to post this because even though i am not a mother, I was a daughter. And this is how I feel: If I had a daughter, I would give her the train set my dad wouldnt let me have because its for boys. I would let her watch scary movies and read underground comics, and pretend I didnt know. I would try to protect her from my own malfunctions, but in the process create more.I would realize that sometimes she has to learn for herself, and some advice she will only take from other people, not me, and that is ok, because I cant teach her everything. If I had a daughter, I would never say, Wait till your father comes home! I would help her impress her teacher with a to-scale play-doh version of the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene. I would make sure she knows how to change a tire and shuffle cards. I would also cave in and buy her that outfit that she needs SO badly to be cool, but I would make her clean the bathroom for it, and maybe even do some weeding... If i ever have a daughter, when she comes home from school, tears flowing, face aflame, and runs to her room and slams the door, I will reach out to her, and if she lets me in, I will hold her while she cries and will deny any negative thing she says about herself ---but, if she pushes me away, i will let her alone and order pizza for when she decides to emerge.
