My friend was left at the dinner table with the check while her date pretended to go to the restroom but really left the restaurant…details below. A while back, a friend of mine (we’ll call her Ashley) met a new, interesting guy (we’ll call him Tim) To give you some background on Ashley, she is a very attractive girl. She has a degree, great job, amazing home, and luxury car. She, like many black, professional, successful women is single. I would consider Ashley a “traditional” girl. Ashley is loyal. She loves to cook and looks forward to being a mother of at least 4 children someday. She expects a man to open the door, pay for dates 75% of the time at least, and HEAD her household. Long story short…she’s no 50/50 chick. Tim, however, believes that Ashley’s views are outdated. If he pays for the first date, he expects her to pay for the next. This is where the fun starts… After a date with Ashley, Tim discussed his expectation for the next date. He wants Ashley to drive, pay for the meal JUST LIKE HE DID in the last date. With arrogance, Ashley was sure to let him know she’s used to a different type of man. One that wants to “play the role” of a man. After a heated argument regarding the the “50/50″ topic, the two didn’t talk for weeks. It was only one date so it was easy for both Ashley and Tim to walk away. Imagine Ashley’s surprise when out of the blue, Tim called to invite Ashley on a new date. However, instead of driving both of them, they’d meet at the restaurant. On the date, the two ordered their food. The total meal was around $100. Mid-meal, Tim takes a bathroom break…NEVER TO RETURN. He left Ashley at the restaurant with the check! She was HEATED! Tim had his 2nd date after all. And, yes, Ashley she paid for the meal What do you think? Are Ashley’s views of a traditional relationship outdated or is Tim not stepping up to play the role of a man?
