My heart aches in sadness and the tears flow with the passing of a lifelong family friend Phil Lilly. He may be gone but something beautiful remains…….memories, oh the sweet memories! Mr. Nilly as my sister Cubby so affectionately called him truly was a great man! When our families camped at Butt Lake he and his wife Phyllis made sure on Sundays they took all 7 of their boys to church. I can still picture their station wagon climbing up the mountain road with all those crazy boys inside and Phil’s deep toned voice echoing through the forest as he would try to still them. We spent endless hour’s water skiing on Butt Lake and Phil had the “finest” ski his Vouge!! . Some of the best times of my life were spent there with the Lilly Clan. Complete with Andy Lilly slapping me in the face with a carp, me whipping the crap out of Peter Lilly with a pine tree branch for cheating in checkers, Danny Lilly calling all the girls pickle tits, Scott Lilly for running through the camp ground dressed as the sickle killer complete with a big sickle (yes, there was a sickle killer loose at the time) scaring all of us kids and Chris Lilly for seeing my boobs when my bikini top came off and telling everyone! (I was a horrified teen LOL) My parents, the Lilly’s and their friends would always get together for poker and dinner parties. One particular dinner party at our home one of us kids got sick and puked all over. No worries Phil helped my father vacuum it up with my mother’s prized “Electrolux”. These are just a smattering of memories that come to mind. I will try not to mourn the passing of Phil but rather thank God that he lived and celebrate his life. Although words can’t ease the loss your bear…… Phyllis, Scott, Chris, Pat, Peter, Andy, Matt and Danny… I want you to know how very much I love each of you. Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Life on earth has ended but your eternal life has just begun! I will never forget you Mr. Nilly. Rest In Peace my cherished friend. The day is ending, night is descending…….. good night sweet Phil I love you!!
