My heart just got torn into pieces by what Ive just witnessed here at the FNB ATM at Caltex Garage in Dobsonville ext 2. And elderly man asked me to assist him withdraw money from his SASSA card, and naturally I obliged. He asks me to withdraw R2000 and we try repeatedly to do so, but the card refuses. It says we must opt for a lesser amount and we try, from R1500 and go down. But still it wont withdraw. Eventually I request R150 and it comes out. The receipt comes out and his balance is R39.00. I tell him this and he cries right there infront of me. I ask him why he has less money than he expected and he tells me that he has a daughter who steals his money all the time, and when he tells the police, they arrest the young woman for a few days and release her. She then comes back out and unleashes terror. He limped away without another word, leaving me standing there helpless and frozen in shock. I dont understand such cruelty.
