My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Elly Kelly . A few months back, I recorded a record with Elly titled YOLO. We were all aware that her cancer had returned, but decided to record with the approach that this was just another record. In order to keep the sessions as normal as possible we rarely spoke of Ellys illness and this state of conscious denial stuck with us through the entire process. The few times, during breaks and such, when the topic did raise to the surface, Elly remained positive and focussed on enjoying life for now. It was such a pleasure to work with an amazing human being and musician during this troublesome time. Elly kept her smile on until the end. About three weeks ago she came by the studio to play accordion on Fare Thee Well. Even then, I could not face the reality that this might be the last time we would create music together. After the session I asked her how she was feeling and she explained how she was in a lot of pain but somehow when she played music it all seemed to subside. A few days back we spoke for the last time, her last words to me were a request for one more song…unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to fulfill this request…Elly you will be missed..Elly Kelly youtu.be/7m5FNMCHByc
