My humble response to this friend who thinks Gani Fawehinmi, an elite, succeeded with the people where Dr. Kayode fayemi failed (In his judgement) Hmm, if we got the drift right, little wonder the Senior Advocate of the Masses; Gani Fawehinmi was voted by the people as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Poor uncle Gani ! I could recollect the SAN crying at the level of our national reprobate living, extolling mediocrity while individuals who have the capacity to lead a people to where they ought to be are thrashed into the political dustbin of not belonging to the ruling class or aliens to the grassroots (Elitism) However, permit me to engage you in an intelligent diversionary tactics of grassroot people as being postulated by some people who do not have a first line knowledge about what happened in Ekiti on June 21, 2014. A Governor who wouldnt present a State Budget to the house of Assembly until he had heard from the people across the LGs through the highly celebrated Town Halls meetings, each Town has one thing or the other as Gvt projects, distributed Laptops to indigent students who couldnt afford them to aid effective/efficient learning, Putting up their classrooms/Hospitals and equip them to a global comparative standard, Paying our dying parents and grandparents monthly social securities alowances, not mention numerous legacy and people oriented projects, cannot be said not to be in touch with the same people. I guess the redefined grassroots suddenly developed in the minds of three sets of people; the political attention-grabbers (Like my dear brothers; Dr. Akin Osuntokun and Segun Ayobolu and co), those who know or took active role in what happened on June 21 and are desperate to cover up and individuals who are just in a hurry to know what happened on June 21 (a group this friend belongs to). And if a Governor would have to wear shorts, fly his collars and eats at road sides to display simplicity of personality and grassrootism as held by my friend, then indeed, the people deserves the Jesters they often get as leaders. Leadership or governance by extension is a serious business to take a people beyond where they want to be to where they ought to be. However, If there exists grassroots, as known to minds that are unbridled by poltical/selfish coloration, a great leader wouldnt leave such people forever at the roots of the grasses but to lift them up to a better life. This is what the JKF brand stands for ! And until we, as a people, develop an unrepentant desire and untie ourselves from the deceits of a leader eating roasted plantain or yam with us for a few minutes and returns home to have salad and juice (which the people cant afford) with his family and travels around the world at will while we are trapped at the roots of the grasses (tagged grassroots), the better for us all. I am not unware of the diverse knives that are often thrown up at the death of an Elephant. But only if some of us can be patient with history as it takes the frank records of Ekiti gubernatorial Election 2014. We had waited for over 3 years before (Never pray for that again!) But little patience and objectivity, many of us may realise that Ekiti have been sold what she never bargained for in the socio-political market of Nigeria that has GEJ as the Market controller (Baba loja). As for me, I can tell you any day and any time that the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led Administration appears a victim of the Nigerian peculiar politics, hence all these perspectives at the demise of the Ajanaku (Elephant).........
