My idea for Jeweled Pikes originated when I wanted to add a little more flash to some plugs and maybe get a few more fish. The idea stayed on the back burner until I came across bulk cut stones at an antique store. I collected some jewels, added them to some plugs and the artistic side of me took over! In 2011, I made 9 Jeweled Pikes, each uniquely crafted with imbedded paste jewels. Some of the lures played off of familiar patterns (Wonder Bread, Sea Robin, Squid) and others were simply the result of imagination gone wild. Some folks thought they were terrific, some were amused, and still others thought Id gone nuts. As a passionate fisherman, my working plugs- Pikes, Divers, SLIMs, Sand Pikes, Trollers, etc. and spreading the message about Big bait, Big fish are the most important elements for me.
