My letter to the Smith Commission. It is probably too long but it says what I think. Send your views too if you are in Scotland. if you are not in Scotland, perhaps it will help you understand why we tried so hard to get an Independence vote, which was opposed so thoroughly and effectively by the establishment in England: Dear Lord Smith, After the wholesale war on our independence referendum I hope there will be some real discussion of how Scotland can govern itself. thats all we are wanting! and it doesnt sound like all the tosh that has been spoken about us becoming foreign and people in England being outraged at our demands. I havent met anyone who doesnt agree that Scotland is a different country from England. now we want control over all our budget including health, welfare, education etc. I dont suppose anyone is going to agree to nuclear disarmament now, which is a great loss to the entire country and world that arises from the opposition to the referendum proposals. And powers that are given to Scotland should be irrevocable for example the fracking license business, which is really outrageous but also outrageous in England too. One of the hopes of those of us who voted for independence was that England would benefit too. Westminster has to stop behaving despotically, it has to listen to the people it is supposed to represent., (and is paid very highly to represent) Good luck in your difficult task and please stick up for us. It is my belief you will see the Scottish point of view very quickly when you work on this and I hope you can bring round your fellow panel members to see it too, Thank you
